My
fellow Loma Altans:
We
have accomplished so much in such a short amount of
time; it seems impossible that we only began 7 months
ago. Since our first meeting in June 2004, I have had
the honor of representing you as President of The Loma
Alta Neighborhood Association.
In our
short time together, we have held successful meetings
with The Mayor’s office, City Council, Planning,
Building, Parks and Recreation, Police, The Oceanside
Historical Society, Economic Redevelopment, Code
Enforcement, Street Improvement and Traffic
Specialists. I recently met with representatives of
the Singh family to request a substantial donation and
Loma Alta Monument sign placement permission at their
property at Mesa and Mission.
In
every instance where I represented Loma Alta I have
never failed to recognize that it is because of your
participation that these opportunities exist.
Here
is a partial list of our accomplishments to date:
- Developers
know to contact us prior to moving forward.
- We
have received developer’s presentations on
numerous projects
- Our
monument sign initiative is thriving and close to
realization.
- We
are close to seeing our first of example of a
well-planned, landscaped traffic circle containing
an Historic Loma Alta monument sign at Barnwell
and Corto.
- We
had a stop sign placed at Mesa and Hoover.
- We
had a stop sign placed at MacDonald and Hoover.
- We
won unanimous denial of the Hidden Canyon Rental
Town home project at Planning Commission
In
addition to these items and more importantly, we have
come together in the spirit of a true neighborhood to
support our members in difficult times. We replaced
windows and made meals and reached out to new friends
who were once strangers.
We now know if
a
member of our community is in need, the Loma Alta
community will be there, and everyone who participates
can be sure they too, could someday need and receive
assistance and kindness from friends and neighbors
close by.
On
behalf of the Loma Alta Neighborhood Association,
thank you all for your support, kindness,
participation, love and community spirit.
We
have only just begun.
love,
Greg
