Minutes:
LANA Meeting April 11, 2006
Meeting
came to order at 7:00 PM, attendance: Approximately 80.
Thanks
to everyone for your continuing participation.
President’s
report:
Greg
reiterated the importance of the process that has been successful thus far.
That is, to consider any proposal before the group, be it a new development,
sidewalks, traffic calming, etc. with an open mind and to show the presenter
consideration with out rancor, screaming, yelling, accusing or other
discourteous behavior. Then, as a group or in a focus group consisting of
volunteers from a wide spectrum of Loma Alta residents, the attributes and
drawbacks of the proposed subject are discussed and the findings are published
on the LANA website. Finally, after careful and thorough consideration the item
is put to a vote and that consensus is moved forward to the appropriate City
entity: Planning, City Council, etc.
There was a recent article in the North County Times (NCT)
that was written by a concerned citizen regarding proposed sidewalks on Mesa. This individual is
not a member of LANA and took offense to unfortunate misinformation
that she received from City staff whereby she was informed “the Loma Alta
Homeowner’s Organization” had agreed to request sidewalks on Mesa drive between Pajama and Loma Alta
streets on the south side.
As you all know, we ARE NOT an HOA. We never officially
discussed the issue of sidewalks on Mesa
and would never move forward with such a sensitive issue without following the
process outlined above.
This issue has been tabled temporarily to gather more input.
·
Loma Alta Scholarship Foundation: The necessary
paperwork is being created by LANA VP Ed Burns and myself
to establish Non Profit status via an additional registration with the State and
Federal Government.
·

and Mission:
mark your calendars! The second Historic Loma Alta monument is scheduled for
installation May 10, 2006. This monument is being paid for by the Singh family
and will bear a plaque dedicated to the memory of Rose and Harry Singh.

Crouch Street
“Ventana” Project: Tony Frost and Ken Chriss presented their project again and
discussed the importance of standing by our process: they listened to our
requests and made considerable changes to accommodate them including altering
the project to allow the driveway to the condos to access from Canyon in stead
of Crouch. Despite these changes, the project was denied at Planning
Commission. The developers request all who support this project to
attend the upcoming City Council meeting Wednesday May 17, 2006.
It is important to note that one member of the
audience came forward screaming “liar…liar” after the presentation and, in
accordance with LANA protocol, was asked to leave.
