Loma Alta Neighborhood Association Scholarship Foundation

Guidelines and criteria

Purpose:

The Loma Alta Neighborhood Association Scholarship Foundation is a separate entity of the Loma Alta Neighborhood Association created in 2006. It was established to reward deserving students by providing funds and encouragement and enable them to attend college. Students will be selected by a committee who will weigh various factors including scholastic achievement and community involvement.

Application:

This application is available on the Loma Alta Neighborhood Association website www.lomaalta.org or at any Loma Alta Neighborhood Association meeting.

Eligibility:

Recipients must be residents of the City of Oceanside and U.S. Citizens.

Graduating high school seniors from the Loma Alta community who are actively applying to any accredited college, university or technical school.

Recipients are selected regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion or any other arbitrary factor. A committee of Loma Alta Neighborhood Association members will review all applications and select recipients based on their ability to afford college, their high school grade point average, their documented community involvement and their demonstrated desire to attend college. Recipients must show proof of enrollment to receive funds.

Source:

All scholarship funds come from community donations: no public monies are used in this program. All donations are maintained in a separate trust fund and are used only for the scholarship program.

Since donations are given solely for the purpose of the scholarship program, they may be considered as tax-deductible contributions to a non-profit organization: consult your tax advisor for specific information.

Announcement:

Scholarship awards will be announced at a reception in mid June of each year. Typically, recipients are also recognized at high school awards nights.
