Fellow Loma Altans:
The geographical area bounded by Interstate 5 to the west,
Mission Avenue to the north, El Camino Real to the east and
Oceanside Boulevard to the south is Officially known as Loma
Alta.
Our historic association was created in June 1950 to address
the concerns of the neighborhood and to enhance communication
and to promote social interaction.
Loma Alta includes
many historic residences and estates, several sweeping ocean
views, unusual topography and canyons, Buddy Todd (formerly Parnassus
Park) Park and an abundance of unimproved land.
But,…I don't need to tell you that, you live here!!
Unfortunately, very few people know this area as Loma Alta.
Consider other Oceanside neighborhoods: Rancho Del Oro, South
Oceanside, Ivey Ranch, Tri-City, Guahome, San Luis Rey, Fire
Mountain.
The mere fact that these designated areas are widely
recognizable by name, as in "Fire Mountain", adds to an area's
desirability, enhances resale value, promotes positive attention
from City Government and aids in defining a distinctive
community with it's own intrinsic value.
To help in identifying our community, I propose we call out
the boundaries of Loma Alta with signage at several key
intersections.
Some possible intersections are: Mesa and Mission, Oceanside
Boulevard and Crouch, Oceanside Boulevard and Hoover, Hoover and
Mesa, Barnwell and Mesa (at Buddy Todd Park), Foussat and Mesa
etc..
Please feel free to use the feedback form on this site or
email with your ideas for signage sites. This is a community
effort and all ideas are important and considerable.
Please find a sketches attached. The concept here utilizes
early California style wrought iron letters set on a cement and
stone monument. A
proposal for Loma Alta signage
No matter what design is selected, it should be durable, easy
to maintain and of course, cost must be considered.

Q. How will
the signage be funded?
A.
Through
donations to a community fund.
A treasurer will be elected and entrusted to
hold and disperse funds based on the costs to create and
install signage.
Again, please feel free to submit ideas for signage
design and text.
